A Walk on the Wild Side

A picturesque little lake down the road from our house but one not to be trifled with.  The sign on the right is, you would think, a little redundant but then this is America.

For some, it's all in a day's fishing.

By the way, I only had my phone camera with me. The anhinga really did let me get that close. In fact, as some passers-by remarked, she was posing. (Here we go again. More paparazzi. Like me profile, luv?") Meanwhile, on the fishing pier, business was slow.

This pelican gave up trying to hang around the fishermen and tried the beach.

Where a few people were out, raking for prehistoric sharks' teeth.

On the way home, a likely-looking swamp. But not an alligator to be seen. Too cold, probably.
