The first really hard frost this morning, crisping the fallen leaves. The sky is blue and still but I'm heading over the Great Lakes to Chicago and it seems, into some serious weather. There is no such thing as gentle drizzle in America. Heavy rain is heavy rain and "showers" means monsoons. Going to Chicago means putting watches back an hour (golfers take note) which I always find rather exciting, when you're still in the same country.
